busy busy busy

i have been busy for the past three months cracking my head,,,, to formulate this year's budget. I leave home 7.30 am and come back 12.30 am. Never get to sit with my family. Only puasa month able to spend sometime tha's during sahur and break fast. My son came back form indonesia during raya, i didnt spend much time with him, i was busy with work. My son said this is usual....he has been experiencing this since his childhood days. My family members understand my style of life. I give 110% to my work....

I always say work comes first then family. My family there
is only four of us but work brings millions of people happiness. I say this to my officers...non-agrees with me. Anyway, if u say i'm crazy....i couldn't be bothered....coz thats what i'am. The reward will come from GOD.

i won't say that you are crazy nor irrational for saying such because you do what you think is right and everybody may have their own opinions anyway. so i respect that and to a certain point, i wish everybody is as committed as you are in their work so things would be easier and faster. it's challenging to be working in an environment where all you do is picking up the slacks of other people; it is exhausting.

but to be fair, i think it is also important to spend some quality time with your family because should you fall ill, they are the ones who would be taking care of you and not that millions of people. and most certainly not your job. anybody else can take over your job - but whether they do exceptionally good or bad, we dunno. but working in the government, you are dispensable, i guess.

i spent some considerable time at the hospital taking care of my dad, so i saw a lot of ill people and their families were there to take care of them. that puts me into a perspective - i cannot live in guilt. and like i stayed with dad at the hospital, i would want my children to stay with me too. as you grow older, you would be like children again, you know. scared, insecure, confused.

you only have one mom, one dad, one wife/husband, one daughter, one son and should you lose them, you can never get them back. because at the end of the day, you work hard for your family. so indirectly, you are putting your family first, and not your job.

but then again, because people like you (the workaholics, the all for the nation) too, we are where we are now. we have hospitals, schools, roads, not in turmoil etc, though i know, we still have a long way to go.

so i guess, life is all about balance.
my two cents (and longest ever comment).
