I dont simply go around and hate people. I write things that i encounter and feel that changes need to done. What I write in the blog is for the benefit of others and mine too. I write becoz i want other people to learn things and in the course I learn things too. I dont keep hatred feelings towards others, even though they hate me. I tell what i feel is right for my officers, the rakyat and most importantly, the nation. During yesterday's presentation I told whatever i feel is right to the PM and he listens. I listen to others too, if what they say is sensible and rational to that particular situation.
Its disheartening to see the mentality of young officers today. Saying things so easily without thinking. Self-centred and not nation first. No commitment and take things easy.
Some like to take emergency leaves,on top the normal leaves. It has become habitual. The quality of work produce by some officers are deteriorating. Some are not fit to be promoted but they hold higher positions, in fact, their juniors are much better. I dont know how some went to the university and got their degrees. This is not belittling others, but seriously want others to buck-up and go for a change - paradigm shift in their thinking and actions.
I'm lucky that i have good senior officers surrounding me. Though, I said they are difficult to change but they are the officers who are committed and produce quality output. Without them BEA will be crippled. The young officers in the category of KEs and PEs have to improve and learn fast since you all are promoted fast. You can take your own sweet time and go for gradual change but you wont have enough time to learn from your senior officers.
I'm trying hard to bring the new thinking into your mind from my mind.

Mentality of Officers
I'm not writing this out of anger but with rational mind. There were two comments posted to my earlier article title People are difficult to change. Comments by Sillytoe and Anonymous. Both of them dont understand me. Nobody so far able to read my mind. Everything I say and write has deep meaning.
YOU... sillytoe or anonymous, you are bunch of officers like others. I dont blame you all, you are young, long way to go to gain experience and wisdom.
Sillytoe wants to teach me about the book on 'Iceberg is Melting'. Come on examples and theories in books cannot be generalized to all situations and environment. Certain things is applicable in certain circumstances only and cannot be applicable in all damn situations. Sometimes you dont have the luxury of time to go for gradual change, u need drastic changes. Malaysia is like this till today, becoz people dont want to change. Policies introduced but poor implementation. Day by day we are overtaken by others. Secondly, we are stuck to our own sweet way of life taking things easy.
Malaysia wont be able to succeed if ppl are complacent and want gradual changes. Malaysia dont have the luxury of time. Partly, what I am doing is to make ppl change faster in this demanding and dynamic world.

People are difficult to change
Changing one's attitude is the toughest thing to do in this world. Why are people difficult to change? When they were small, they were taught by their parents. When they were growing-up, they learn from friends and teachers. When they join work, they learn from their superiors and peers. All these things they learn becomes part of their life. These things they acquire and learn becomes entrenched into their daily life and beliefs. Certain aspects become part of their flesh and blood, as such, they are difficult to accept new things or changes to adopt and adapt new lifestyle.
My officers, especially the senior ones are good living examples of this phenomenon. They got their training for such a long time and have been writing economic reports for so long. It becomes routine and the style they write the report becomes so monotonous. They can write on and on, tones of pages. Their way of writing reports will be long winding, with lots of spices added and not to mention with lots of figures. They will use the pharases and words over and again. If you ask to make everything simple, direct to the point, they will not only object but most of all give all kind of reasons and justifications. They will say they have been doing this for years and why we need to make changes now. They will say we are deleting important things which wont be captured in any other reports, by any other agencies.
I told them, things changes and we need to change. May be true, in the good olden days, we assume people are a bit slow to catch-up, so we not only write every single things crystal clear but in addition, we tend to repeat things in different paragraphs. Common on for god sake, things have changed now. We are living in the 20th century. The century of Gen Y. They grab things fast unlike us be4. So we must tell things direct to the point.
Its hard to change, I know but we have no choice but to change, if we wanna stay relevant.

Women or Men - who is better?
This post will be going to be a hot one. Even b4 writing (still in my mind) I could feel the amount of argument it is going to trigger or at least from one person (Sillytoe). The topic women or men - who is better has been argued since day one this world was created.
Women was created from the rib bone of a man (Adam). Men always feel they are superior being compared to women. The prophets - be it Mohammed or Jesus, they are men. If you take most of the leaders in the world they are men. Some say women talk too much than men who do the real work. Women like to gossip and talk about others more than men do. Women have short thinking meaning to say that they are quick to jump to conclusion. They are impatient, jealous and revengeful.
A male chauvinist denigrates females in the belief that they are inferior to males and thus deserving of less than equal treatment or benefit. By the way, I'm not a male chauvinist. I believe both men and women should be treated equal. No preferences for men or women.
However, I am facing more problems with women than men. From statistics it shows that more women take urgent leaves than men. More women take time-outs than men. Women have problems working late hours leaving their kids and husbands at home. Women also are good in persuading and talking nicely to you to make you change decisions to their favor.
On the other hand, there are also men who take urgent leaves. However, the main problem with men is that they dont put 100% effort into their work. There are male officers whose ideas doesnt make sense.
Most women officers are smarter than male officers. Smarter means cleverer in putting forward ideas and more importantly the high quality of work they produce.
Having said all these, i feel in the current environment both men and women are equally good and clever. No one of them is superior in terms of their contribution to the organization.

Dreams
Dream can be defined as a succession of images, thoughts, or emotions passing through the mind during sleep. Dreams can have a storyline with beginnings and endings. It can be just a snapshot of something real, fantasy and even frightening. The reason I am writing about dreams because usually during the fasting month I tend to experience more dreams than normal months.
There are dreams which make you happy, especially those which you have good times with your loved ones. Known as sweet dreams you will be with someone you craved for to be with, whom you cant be with in real life. It can be a celebrity or the girl next door or even some other girl or boy friends.
Then, there is the scary dreams either you dream of the dead or you are chased by ghost. Once I dreamt of waking-up in a cemetery where zombies are sitting by the side. I was trying hard to fight the zombies slashing their heads with my sword but they were just too many. They over powered and strangled me. I woke from my sleep sweating. I feel so weak and all the energy in my body had been sucked-up.
The fantasy dream can be you going to the place where you can never be or some strange place you have never been in your life. Once, I dreamt I was in space in another planet fighting the alien creatures. This sounds futuristic but it is merely a dream.
People may laugh of your dreams. Some say dreams have meanings. So they will do everything to make sense of their dreams. Others even earn a living just by interpreting other people's dreams. Some say dreams come true when whatever they dreamt of or wished for becomes a reality.
