Muzikal Tun Mahathir

Last nite went to see the Tun Mahathir Musical theater. The music, songs acting and props were fantastic. The main casts of the show include Erra fazira and Isma. Well, prominent individuals and artistes (even Siti) were present. I enjoyed the whole 21/2 hours show and 100% concentration which i seldom do even in movie theaters. The musical show depicts the life history of Mahathir from the day he was born in 1925 to the day he resigned as the fourth PM of Malaysia. Of course, the show exhibits all the mega projects initiated by Che Det (thats how he his known from childhood, even now in his blog).

What I wanna share is not about how great was the show but more importantly the message and thoughts of a great statesman. He is of his own class and none so far can match him in Malaysia and even in south-east Asia as an intelligent, far-sighted political leader. He had done a lot for the nation in terms of development and progress bringing Malays to the level they are today. His frustrations centred in his failure to bring the Malays out-off rent-seeking mentality made him resign from his post though most leader won't easily give-up such a high position.

The other thing one can learn is about his character esp. hardworking, reading books most of the time, doing small business from selling balloons to operating small stall selling drinks. Then, furthering his studies in Singapore where he met Tun Hasmah and becoming UMNO leader. He even wrote a letter to Tuanku Abdul Rahman Putra, the PM then to resign as PM, giving reasons of his weakness and inability to rule the country, and later Mahathir ws expelled from the party. The 13 May incident brought him to active politics when Tun Razak brought him back into UMNO.

I think every Malaysian must go and watch this musical theater esp. the younger generation. Most of the young ones do not know the country's history and take things lightly which may lead to ignorant about their own country's history. The younger ones should be instilled with patriotic feelings and love for the country.
